Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Study of Unique Gaps and New Directions in English (SOUGAND in English) follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, integrity, and scholarly value of all published research. Neither authors nor reviewers are informed of each other's identities throughout the review process.

Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor. At this stage, the manuscript is assessed for:

  • Relevance to the journal's aims and scope
  • Originality and scholarly contribution
  • Academic quality and clarity of presentation
  • Compliance with submission guidelines
  • Ethical standards and plagiarism requirements

Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected without external review.

Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers in the relevant field. Reviewers evaluate the submission based on:

  • Originality and innovation
  • Relevance to English Studies
  • Theoretical and methodological rigor
  • Quality of analysis and interpretation
  • Significance of findings
  • Organization and readability
  • Academic language and style
  • Ethical compliance
Editorial Decisions

Based on reviewers' reports, one of the following decisions will be made:

  • Accept without revisions
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Revise and resubmit (major revisions)
  • Reject

Authors receiving revision requests are expected to submit a revised manuscript together with a detailed response explaining how reviewer comments have been addressed.

Final Evaluation

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further assessment. The final publication decision is made by the editorial team after careful consideration of reviewers' recommendations and the quality of revisions.

Review Timeline

SOUGAND in English is committed to providing an efficient and constructive review process. While review times may vary depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity, authors are normally informed of the initial editorial decision within 8–12 weeks of submission.

Plagiarism Screening

All submissions are subject to plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process. Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices will be rejected immediately.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts and review reports are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers must not disclose any information regarding submitted manuscripts to third parties.

Commitment to Quality

Published by Sougand Akbarian Publications, SOUGAND in English is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence, fairness, transparency, and research integrity throughout the peer-review and publication process.
